Turkey – Flora

May 14, 2014

The conditions to grow beautiful plants are perfect – as long as they get plenty of water in the summer, when the temperatures rise to +50C and even +60C! (I couldn’t believe this, but one of the locals swore it sometimes gets that bad in July and August.)

Expect to see huge palm trees, strange conifers and lots of trees and bushes covered in bright blooms; lemons, oranges and pomegranates… all the fruit, that we northerners, can’t grow outdoors.

Below you’ll find some photographs of the plants that are grown in the hotel garden, which serves as an extremely cosy and warm home for little birds, cats (I have befriended quite a few), lizards and even hedgehogs!

Anyway, here’s the promised burst of colours.

Thank you, Sarah. I think that it’s the biggest adventure in my life… Well, certain things are extremely unusual, to say the least. K.
